// Piece Of Paper //

Recently, the Ministry Of Education just released the AS/A' Level results, and in no time, it'd be the release of the O'Level results. And here are a few things I really want to say.

Firstly, to all the students who achieved their desired/required grades, a very huge congratulations to you! You've made it!

And to those who didn't,

here's the thing..

Yes, your results do matter. It's going to determine the further education you'll be getting, it's going to determine what courses you can get into, it's going to determine how your parents will feel, and it's going to determine your emotions upon hearing the word 'results'. However, it does not define who you are. Your results do not define you as a person, please please please keep that in mind. Your results do not define your worth, it doesn't define your importance, not even your intelligence. Technically, your exam results are only a reflection of what you've learned and memorized in school. You may or may never use them again in future aspects of your life. And ten years down the road, no one will care about it; it's really just a piece of paper. But don't give up here. When you've hit rock bottom, the only way you can go is up. So strive harder and push yourself, you can opt to retry and do better. Don't ever give up on yourself. I know it feels like the end of the world, but really, it's isn't.

So go and shout and let it all out, vent out your feelings in the healthiest way possible. Then get back up on your feet and get a hold of yourself. Success is subjective, and there is more than one way road to a bright future and steady career.

To all the students out there who have friends feeling unsatisfied about their A's or B's, for the love of God, please understand them. Everyone has their own expectations, perhaps they're disappointed in themselves for not reaching their goal target. Universities have their own set of requirements as well, maybe it wasn't enough. Don't mistake their disappointment for bragging. Instead, congratulate them for  what you think is great, and cheer them on in making their decision consequent to their results.

At the end of the day, we're all prisoners of the education system, on the same journey to making it in life. All we want to do is make our parents proud and become someone great. Be nice to each other, be encouraging and spread positivity instead of judging and berating one another. Don't let that piece of paper define you and don't let it define someone else.
