// 16 Things I learned Being 16 //

1) Things will probably not go the way you want it to be and you'll be met with trials and hardships but more doors will open up.

2) Make effort to keep in touch with the friends that will pick up your phone call at 3AM, you won't regret it.

3) People will come and go whether you like it or not. Some are cigarette breaks, some are forest fires.

4) If your bestfriends doesn't like the guy you're associating with, chances are he's bad news.

5) There's absolutely no point in wishing you could turn back time and change the past. It's over, stop wasting time.

6) You're still in a self-discovering period and that's alright, you don't have to have everything figured out yet. Found out you're afraid of heights? That's alright, at least you know your fears! Unsure of your future career? Don't worry, dream big for now!

7) You might come across something you can never forget and that will haunt and torment you, especially during the odd hours at night, leeching you of sleep and causing you to shake. But that's okay, confide in someone or seek help. Though once you let the darkness in, it never really goes away. But you'll be okay.

8) You are at fault sometimes and it takes a whole lot of courage to break out of your shell and apologize. But when you do, you'll be proud of yourself.

9) Sometimes you'll look at someone like he put the stars in your night sky, and sometimes someone will look at you that way. Wait for it. And sometimes, both of you might be lucky enough to cross path.

10) People will always have something to say about you. But never let it get to you. Remember, you don't live to please anyone.

11) Don't be quick to judge or quick to speak, especially when you're agitated or upset, because you can never take words back and sometimes it can kill.

12) Work hard and put effort in high school. Be enthusiastic and active. You'll meet the best people and you'll be super thankful when you're applying for college.

13) You are growing up, but never forget that your mother is growing old as well. Always show love and appreciation for your mum. Her love is unconditional and pure. All the choices and sacrifices she has made ever since you came into this world are all so you can have a good life. She take no off-days whether sick or tired, 24/7 superwoman, that's your mum. Show some love and appreciation.

14) Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. Sometimes you will be crying your eyes out at 2AM with razors to your wrists cursing the whole world wondering why your life is a nightmare, we've all been there before at some point in life. Some worse than the others. Remember that you're never alone. Seek help and pick up the mess you made, including yourself, and get back up. You are going to be sad and you are going to want to hurt yourself, don't you dare do it. Write angry letters that you'll never send. Watch your favourite tv series. Take a shower and brush out the knots in your hair. Look in the mirror and tell yourself, "I am worth it". You are worth it. Say it till you can breathe again.

15) Just because you do not look like that lady you saw who has thigh gaps, curves at all the right places, acne/pimple-free skin and no visible scars and all things you deem make someone beautiful, does not mean that you are not. You are beautiful. You are beautiful. YOU are BEAUTIFUL.

16) You are the only person you need to be good enough for.

Breathe.
Take a breath.
Enjoy life as it is.
There's no need to rush.
